Unity Church Zoom Meeting October 7 on proposal to provide homeless services
10/04/2020 09:50
Unity of Olympia
Welcomes
Shower Trailer and Temporary Shelter on its Property
Unity of Olympia, the church located at 1335 Fern St SW, has entered into an agreement with Build a Bus Home (BABH) to provide showers for the homeless on its property on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, for a period of 90 days. BABH will pull their shower trailer, along with related equipment, onto Unity’s property, and homeless individuals can be picked up by a shuttle for showers, based upon a schedule. All equipment will be removed at the end of the day, and all grey water will be hauled away. This will probably begin before the end of October 2020. (info@buildabushome.org)
The homeless shelter located at 2828 Martin Way is going to be razed for the purpose of erecting a new building on that site. All guests at that shelter have to be relocated by November 1, 2020. Unity of Olympia is negotiating with Interfaith-Works Shelter as to whether one of its buildings, the Bishop Wing, would be suitable to house their guests for 5-6 months. The shelter is staffed 24 hrs/day with experienced, paid staff. The impact to the outward appearance of Unity’s property would be minimal.
For support, questions, or concerns, please join BABH and Unity for a neighbor informational Zoom meeting on Wednesday, October 7 at 7PM. The Zoom ID number is 846 1272 6706, password 351209, and the phone is 253 215-8782. Thank you for joining us.
